Orioles close to hiring pitching coach

Baltimore, MD (ANN) – It has been reported that the Baltimore Orioles are close to finalizing their coaching staff for the 2019 baseball season. They are expected to hire Texas Ranger Pitching Coach Doug Brocail according to reports. Nothing has been officially announced by the club.

Brocail is a former big league pitcher. He worked in the Houston and Texas organizations. He was with Houston for 5 years between 2019 and 2015. During that time he was the pitching coach from 2011 to 2013. From 2016 to 2018 he was the pitching coach for the Texas Rangers.

Brocail is coming to a pitching staff that came off the 2018 season in a very bad state. The staff’s ERA was an appalling 5.18 and a WHIP of 1.50. The Orioles pitching staff also gave up the most home runs at 234.
