Sarasota, Florida (Arundel News Network) – The first practice was held in Sarasota for the Baltimore Orioles but without a recent pickup. Jesus Sucre was not at the first practice due to visa issues in his native Venezuela. In the meantime the Orioles have called on
Cael Brockmeyer to fill his spot.
Manager Brandon Hyde stated that he is hopeful that he (Sucre) will be here soon. He further stated that the Orioles are looking “forward to him being in the mix once he gets here.”
Sucre was not signed by the Orioles under February 1 to a minor league contract. There will be some stiff competition around the plate this year. The candidates are between Jesus Sucre, Chance Sisco, Austin Wynns, Carlos Perez, Andrew Susac and Martin Cervenka.
