Edgewater, Maryland (Arundel News Network) – On February 19 at approximately 6:15 p.m. Anne Arundel County Police officers responded to Central Avenue East at Loch Haven Road in Edgewater for a single vehicle crash.
A Nissan Maxima was traveling eastbound on Central Avenue approaching Loch Haven Road. The driver failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of their vehicle. The vehicle crossed into the opposite lane left the roadway and struck a tree. The passenger was flown by Maryland State Police to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Maxima was not injured.
The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be the driver’s failure to remain in a single lane. Speed and alcohol appear to have contributed to the accident per a Press Release from Police officials. The Traffic Safety Section is handling the investigation and the case will be reviewed by the State Attorney.
The passenger was a 22-year-old female from Edgewater while the driver was a 23-year-old male also from Edgewater, MD.
