Glen Burnie, Maryland (Arundel News Network) – As many residents have seen if you have lost your drivers license or need to get your license or ID renewed you must be in compliance of the Real ID Act. This forces you to bring many documents to the motor vehicle administration (MVA) so they have these files on record.
The deadline is October 2020. According to MVA administrator Chrissy Nizer while the deadline is over a year away they do not want their customers to wait till then.
The documents that have to be brought include your birth certificate or a passport. You also have to bring a social security card, a driver’s license and a proof of Maryland Residency such as a bank statement or a utility bill.
The Real ID Law came after the September 11 attacks and Congress wanted to increase the security of those who are traveling. Maryland is compliant and only 12 states have had an extension.
