House Fire in Dunkirk

Dunkirk, Maryland (Arundel News Network) – As we reported this morning fire officials responded to to the 6400 block of Bob-White Court in Dunkirk for an overnight fire.

The dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call just after 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning reporting a fire in a two story single family house. Residents woke up to see fire outside their window on a lower portion of their house. Three adults and one child along with three dogs were able to exit the residence before the fire department arrived on scene.

Once on location fire officials found heavy fire from all side of the house and requested a second alarm with a tanker task force due to the amount of fire and due to no hydrants in the area. The fire was brought under control in about 90 minutes by 66 firefighters from Anne Arundel, Calvert, Annapolis and Prince George’s Fire Departments.

No injuries were reported ans the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Departments wants to remind everyone to “Close Before You Doze” or close the door to your bedroom before you fall asleep. Your door can help limit the smoke entering your bedroom during a fire and give you time to escape.
