BALTIMORE, Md (ANN) — The home opener for the Orioles was going so well. The weather was nice, the sun was out. Then suddenly the sky darkened and Mike Wright came out of the bullpen with the Orioles leading 4-2. By the time he left the game the O’s were down 5-4. Wright got nobody out, giving up 4 hit and 3 runs .
The O’s took an early lead in the game scoring 3 runs in the first, in front of and announced crowd of 44,182. Johnny Villar started the game with a lead off homer. The Orioles added two more runs in the first thanks to a balk and a wild pitch that scored Trey Mancini and Renato Nunez.
In the 9th the Yankees added to their lead as Luke Volt hit a three run homer off Miguel Castro making the score 8-4, which would be the final.
Leading the scoring for the Yankees was Gleyber Torres, who had two homers and four RBIs.
Orioles Starter Alex Cobb went 5.2 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs and 1 walk. Chris Davis went hitless again, going 0-3 with 3 K’s earning boos from the sellout crowd
